Badger Creek Loop

This route originates on the northwest side of of Tropic Reservoir. From the trailhead, head south along the west shoreline forest road (091). At the south end of the reservoir, turn right (west). The route follows Badger Creek, and for the first several miles is the same as Blue Fly (King Creek) Loop. About 4 miles up the route will come to a turnoff to Blue Fly. Continue west on Badger (109).

The loop is about 25 miles around, and takes approximately 1.5 hours, averaging 18 MPH. The entire route is suitable for ATV’s, but the section marked “ATV’s only” near the viewpoints is very narrow and caution should be used. Larger vehicles should go down Skunk Creek (233), cross the East Fork Road to the East Side Connector, head south to Blubber turnoff, then up to Blubber Creek (211) to the right fork of Blubber Creek (106). At the top rejoin the Badger Creek Loop. Other than this short section, the rest is normal trail. If you get to this spot and decide you can’t take it, use the alternate route.

The main loop will take you along the western side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau, with scenery similar to Bryce Canyon, although it is not part of the National Park. (ATV’s, OHV’s, UTV’s are NOT permitted inside Bryce Canyon National Park). The trail follows the rim and there are several spots where are short walk can access viewpoints. The trail decsends along the left fork of Blubber Creek (211).

When you come to East Fork Road, cross the road and ride north along the east side of the canyon. Just before Tropic Reservoir, cross East Fork Road again, and return along the west shoreline road to the trailhead. Watch for wildlife along this trail.
